By Which Date Do I Need To File My Taxes?

The tax filing deadlines for the IRS and California are:

March 15th: S Corporations and Partnerships
April 18th: Individuals and C Corporations

An extension to file can be requested prior to the tax filing deadline. An extension to file is not an extension to pay. The estimated tax liability must be calculated and remitted at the time of the extension request in order to avoid underpayment penalties and additional interest charges.

Is There An Extension Filing Fee?

There is no extension filing fee for existing (returning) clients who do not need an estimated tax liability computation with the extension request.

There is an extension filing fee for new and existing clients who do need an estimated tax liability computation with the extension request.

If you typically owe taxes when filing your tax return, then you most likely will need to have your estimated tax liability computed at the time of the extension request to minimize underpayment of tax penalties and interest charges.

Please contact our office by March 1, 2023 so we can gather the necessary information to accurately calculate your estimated tax liability with the extension request.

This service is billed at our hourly billing rate.

How Long Do I Have To Keep My Tax Documents?

It is important to keep detailed records of your income and expenses for 3 years.  The IRS will want to see them if you are audited.  If the IRS determines that you have under reported your gross income by more than 25% they can go back 6 years in an audit.

Are You Accepting New Clients?

Yes, we are. We are not currently meeting with any clients in person. All meetings are conducted over the phone and email. For phone meetings, we can incorporate Google Meet at the client’s request.

Do You Offer Free Consultations?

We offer a free, 15-minute consultation for new clients. A free consultation may be scheduled here.

What Should I Do If I Can’t Find My Tax Documents, Such As My W-2 Or 1099-MISC?

If you cannot locate your tax documents, you may create a free online account with the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account.
